Today I will mostly be knocking stuff down! Well there is a hole to make ready for a window. The outside has already been removed a couple of weeks ago and the external lintel fitted.
Now its time to do the knock through on the inside.
The joists in the room above do not affect the opening and the lintel hole is cut out first and the lintel fitted before the rest of the opening is made.
The blocks are what’s called cinta / clinka blocks which are an early form of breeze blocks made from fused concrete. They are quite heavy and usually break up whilst trying to remove them and the dust gets every where – so tape up the doors and cover everything. Silver fox is doing the last bits for the flat roof so its time to give him a hand and wait for the window fitter.
